Contextual enquiries
What is it?
During a contextual enquiry, a moderator will visit the user in their home, place of work or environment where they use your service, and observe them in order to understand the real-life successes and obstacles they encounter.
How long does it take?
Depending on the scheduling arrangements of the participants, we allow 2 weeks to complete a series of contextual enquiries. This includes recruiting users, preparing for and carrying out the enquiries, analysing findings and producing resulting reports and diagrams.
What are the benefits?
Contextual enquiries are ideally carried out at the very beginning of the website redevelopment process, before any design or feature analysis has begun. They can be a fundamental part of understanding the user experience, as they provide a real-life insight into how your target audience will actually use your website, and often uncover some surprising findings.
